RentalWare is a peer-to-peer clothing rental marketplace that allows users to list, discover, book, and rent clothing items. By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
RentalWare connects renters and listers. Some of your profile and listing information is visible to other users to enable trust and facilitate rentals. Please review this policy carefully before using the app.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you use RentalWare:
a) Account & Profile Information
- Full name
- Phone number (used for OTP login via Firebase Authentication)
- Email address
- Profile photo (uploaded by you)
- Gender and date of birth (optional)
b) Listing & Rental Information
- Clothing item details — title, description, brand, size, category, condition, and rental price
- Photos of clothing items you upload
- Availability dates and pickup/delivery address
- Booking history, rental transactions, and reviews
c) Payment Information
- Payment details are processed through secure third-party payment gateways
- We do not store full card numbers or banking credentials on our servers
d) Location Data
- Address details entered manually by you when listing an item or placing a booking
- With your permission, approximate location may be used to show nearby rental items
e) Usage & Device Data
- Basic device and usage information collected by Firebase (Google LLC), used for authentication, analytics, and app stability
- This may include device identifiers, app version, and crash reports
2. App Permissions
RentalWare requests the following device permissions:

All permissions are optional where possible. The app will request permission only when the relevant feature is used.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Create and manage your user account and verify your identity
- Facilitate listings, bookings, rentals, and payments between users
- Display your submitted listings, profile, and reviews to other users
- Enable communication between renters and listers
- Send booking confirmations, receipts, and important notifications
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues
- Improve app performance and fix issues
- Provide customer support when needed
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Your data may be shared only in the following limited cases:
- With Other Users — your profile name, photo, ratings, reviews, and listing details are visible to other users. When a booking is confirmed, relevant contact and delivery details are shared with the counterparty.
- Firebase (Google LLC) — for authentication, storage, and crash analytics. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Payment Processors — to securely process rental payments and payouts.
- Our backend servers — your listing content, photos, and profile data are stored on our secure servers.
- Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on Google Firebase (Firestore, Firebase Storage, Firebase Authentication). We use HTTPS/TLS for all network communication to protect data in transit. We implement reasonable security measures to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure, or loss of your information.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information from our systems within a reasonable time, except where retention is required by law (for example, rental transaction records may be retained for tax and regulatory purposes).
7. Children's Privacy
RentalWare is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
